Deputy Permanent Representative To The OECD at New Zealand Foreign Affairs & Trade

Ruth Loan is an experienced professional in international relations and legal counsel, currently serving as Lead Adviser on Climate Change at the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade since January 2021. Previously, Ruth held the position of First Secretary at the New Zealand Mission and Embassy in Belgium from January 2018 to January 2021, focusing on trade issues and EU-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement negotiations. Ruth's tenure at the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade included roles as Senior Policy Officer in the North Asia and Pacific Divisions, as well as a Policy Officer in the Trade Negotiations Division. Prior experience includes legal counsel at O2 (Telefónica UK) and work as a solicitor at Chapman Tripp, advising on telecommunications-related matters. Ruth holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Victoria University of Wellington.
