Matthew Lloyd possesses extensive experience in disaster telecommunications and international response management, serving as the Manager of Disaster Telecommunications and International Response Capability for New Zealand Red Cross since August 2005. This role includes overseeing the recruitment, training, and deployment of the NZRC IT&T Emergency Response Unit, which has provided crucial communications support during major disasters in the Philippines, Nepal, Vanuatu, and Fiji. Prior to this, Matthew managed field communications for the Department of Conservation from August 1996 to January 2003, ensuring effective communication tools for personnel in remote areas, and served in the Royal Navy as a Helicopter ASW Observer from January 1977 to November 1992, controlling anti-submarine operations. Matthew holds a Master's degree in Human Communication from Victoria University of Wellington and a Bachelor of Science with honors in Materials Technology from the University of Surrey.
