Jo Fox

Jo Fox serves as the Pro Vice Chancellor for Humanities and Social Science at Newcastle University since June 2025. Prior to this role, Jo held positions at the University of London as Pro Vice Chancellor (Research and Public Engagement) and Dean of the School of Advanced Study from December 2020 to June 2025. Jo also acted as the Director of the Institute of Historical Research from January 2018 to December 2020 and was a Professor in Modern History at Durham University from 1999 until December 2017. Jo Fox earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in History from the University of Kent.
