Michael McDonald

Michael McDonald, Ph.D. serves as the Operations Manager of the Vehicle Innovation Center at New Flyer, overseeing a unique hub for innovation and education focused on zero-emissions technology since March 2021. Prior experience includes working as a Sustainable Transportation Specialist at Motor Coach Industries, promoting motor coach electrification from June 2017 to February 2021. Michael's academic background encompasses postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where project development included patented innovations in lithium-ion battery electrodes and solar fuels membranes. Prior to that, contributions as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Manitoba involved studying conducting polymer composites and bipolar membranes essential for energy systems. Michael earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry (materials) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Manitoba.
