Sheldon Baikie has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Sheldon started their career as a Deputy Minister at Nunatsiavut Government in 2007 and continued in a variety of positions, including an Economic Development Officer at the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and Student Intern roles at companies like Pomerleau Inc. and Stantec. In 2015, they joined Newfoundland Power as a Student Intern and eventually progressed to roles such as Civil Engineer (EIT), Transmission Engineer (P. Eng.), and Transmission and Distribution Supervisor. In 2017, Baikie briefly worked as a Civil Engineer (EIT) at SEM HATCH before returning to Newfoundland Power as a Civil Engineer and later as the Asset Management Lead.

Sheldon Baikie pursued their education at Memorial University of Newfoundland from 2012 to 2017. During their time there, they successfully obtained a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
