Michael Rogers

Director Of Education at Newport News Behavioral Health Center

Michael Rogers has extensive experience in the field of education. Michael began their career as a Special Education Teacher in the Orange County Public School System in 2004 and held this position until 2012. In 2012, they joined Childhelp as an Education Director and remained in this role until 2013. Since 2013, they have been working as the Director of Education at Newport News Behavioral Health Center.

Michael Rogers earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in New College from The University of Alabama, where they studied from 1991 to 1997. Michael further pursued their education at George Mason University, where they completed a Masters degree in Special Education and Teaching from 2004 to 2007.

Newport News Behavioral Health Center

Newport News Behavioral Health Center is a secure 108-bed residential treatment facility serving males and females, ages 11–18. The staff utilizes a cognitive behavioral treatment model that encourages youth to safely explore thoughts and feelings related to the development of positive and desirable behavior within their homes and communities. Our programs are designed to provide each individual resident quality mental health treatment in a safe and secure therapeutic environment. The new acute care facility is located adjacent to the residential treatment facility. The acute care program provides stabilization to children and adolescents, ages 8 to 17, who suffer from mental health crises. We strive to provide a positive and successful educational experience for our students by assisting them in developing their skills and academic learning strategies.
