Chad Smith

Chad Smith is a seasoned professional in educational administration and athletics, currently serving as the High School Athletic Director at Newport News Public Schools since August 2021. Prior experience includes positions as Case Manager-Career Specialist at Tidewater Community College and Director of Athletics at Frederick Community College. Smith has extensive experience in athletics and student activities, having held roles such as Coordinator of Athletics and Intramurals and Head/Associate Baseball Coach at Thomas Nelson Community College. Early career roles involved directing student activities at Virginia Union University and Saint Augustine's University, as well as serving as a Guidance Counselor at Newport News Public Schools. Chad Smith holds a Master of Education in College Student Counseling and Personnel Services from James Madison University and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government from Norfolk State University.
