Matthew Gross is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Newsela, a company that provides engaging, leveled content to support students' reading growth. Prior to their current position, Matthew served as the Executive Director of the Regents Research Fund and as VP, Planning & Resource Development at PENCIL. Matthew has also held positions as Associate Director of Major Gifts at NYU Stern School of Business and President at Submedia.
Throughout their career, Matthew has played a leadership role in the development and implementation of education reforms. Matthew was instrumental in the development of EngageNY.org, a resource for teachers and administrators implementing the Common Core State Standards. Matthew also helped lead the development of the Regents Research Fellows, a team of nationally recognized thought leaders who help implement the Common Core, next-generation assessments, and other Race to the Top-driven education reforms.
Under Matthew's leadership, Newsela has become a leading provider of leveled content to support students' reading growth. Newsela's mission is to unlock the written word for everyone by providing engaging, leveled content that is accessible and meaningful. With Matthew at the helm, Newsela is making a positive impact on the lives of students across the country.
Matthew Gross graduated from Columbia University in 1994 with a Bachelor's degree in Music. Matthew then attended the NYU Stern School of Business, where they received their MBA.
