Tom Harkins

Tom Harkins has a diverse work experience, spanning various roles and industries. Tom joined Newtek Merchant Solutions in 2013 as the Chief Credit and Risk Officer, responsible for underwriting, risk mitigation, and fraud control efforts. In 2014, they were promoted to Chief Operating Officer, where they managed the entire company, including sales, customer service, product development, and administration. In 2015, they became the EVP of Product Development, overseeing internal and external sales teams, developing technology products, and enhancing client acquisition strategies.

Prior to Newtek Merchant Solutions, Tom worked at FNB Merchants as the Chief Strategy Officer from 2008 to 2013. Tom developed an identity theft company and created a channel partner program, resulting in alliances with over 100 financial institutions.

Before FNB Merchants, Tom served as the COO of Edentify, Inc. from 2005 to 2008. The start-up identity theft company developed solutions to combat identity theft and established partnerships with major companies in the industry.

Tom began their career at MasterCard International in 1985 and held the position of Vice President until 2005. Tom then moved to MasterCard Worldwide, where they served as the VP of Security and Risk. In this role, they developed and implemented a global Risk Assessment Management Program to improve member profitability and decrease fraud losses.

Tom Harkins obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Finance from Fordham University, completing their education from 1976 to 1979.
