Global Head Of Sustainable Investment at Newton Investment Management Group

Therese Niklasson has a strong background in sustainable investment and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) research. Therese currently holds the position of Global Head of Sustainable Investment at Newton Investment Management Group since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Ninety One from 2011 to 2022, where they held various roles including Global Head of Sustainability, Global Head of ESG, and Global Head of ESG Research. During their tenure at Ninety One, they were responsible for strategy development, implementation, policy management, governance engagement, and corporate governance analysis. Before joining Ninety One, Therese served as a Board Trustee at African Conservation Foundation from 2018 to 2020. Therese also gained experience as the Head of Governance and Responsible Investment at Threadneedle Asset Management from 2007 to 2011. In this role, they managed global ESG strategy, proxy voting, engagement, ESG research, investment integration, and client support. Therese started their career as an ESG analyst at Innovest in 2004 and worked as an Analyst at SustainAbility, an ESG ratings agency, in the same year.

Therese Niklasson has a diverse education history that spans multiple fields of study. In 1999-2000, they pursued a Spanish Diploma at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, focusing on Spanish Language and Literature. Following this, in 2000-2001, they obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from the University of Borås, with their studies centered around Business Administration and Management. Moving forward, they attended The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 2001 to 2004, where they completed a BSc degree in Environmental Management & Policy. Lastly, in 2005-2006, Therese attended the University of Oxford, where they achieved an MSc degree in Nature, Society & Environmental Policy.
