Head, Behavioral & Mental Health at Newtopia

Karyn Hood is the current Head of Behavioral and Mental Health at Newtopia. Karyn has held previous positions as Director of Psychology at the Cleveland Clinic Canada and Clinical Research Coordinator at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. In their role as Director of Psychology at the Cleveland Clinic, they developed the infrastructure for a new psychology department, including the behavioural health component for a multi-disciplinary executive health program and psychology-based protocols for a number of specialty health programs. As Clinical Research Coordinator at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, they were responsible for the coordination of all components of a 5 year multi-site National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) funded project. In this capacity, they provided clinical care and crisis intervention to clinically depressed patients, managed a staff of clinicians, research assistants, students and volunteers.

Karyn Hood has a Ph.D. in Clinical and Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto, an M.A. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto, and an HBSc in Specialist in Psychology from the University of Toronto. Karyn also has a B.A. in Psychology from Western University.

They work with Bill Van Wyck - Chief Technology Officer & Head, Product, Gilles Lapointe - Head, Genetics, and Rikki Bennie - SVP, Marketing. Karyn Hood reports to Jeff Ruby, Founder & CEO.
