Mikael Siirtola

Mikael Siirtola has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Mikael has worked at various companies, including Nexi Group, Signant Health, VR Group, GE Healthcare, Eniram Oy, Eficode, Ericsson, Aalto University School of Science and Technology, Graphic Concrete Ltd, and Teknos.

At Nexi Group, Mikael currently holds the position of Director of Engineering. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Engineering and Senior Engineering Manager. In these roles, they built scalable engineering organizations, developed payment terminal systems, improved architectural scalability and high availability, and prioritized employee satisfaction within the group.

As a Consultant at Eficode, Mikael helped customer companies improve their software development pipelines, focusing on embedded system automated verification testing, Python coding, and Docker-based Jenkins infrastructure.

At Ericsson, Mikael worked as an Agile Coach and New Graduate SW Developer. Mikael coached Agile practices, removed impediments, and developed a Lean/Agile mindset.

At Aalto University School of Science and Technology, Mikael worked as a Programmer and Research Assistant. Mikael worked on a TEKES funded project, designed software and hardware prototypes, improved measurement techniques in the mining industry, and conducted various research activities.

At Graphic Concrete Ltd, Mikael served as a CRM Database Administrator. Mikael updated the customer database and provided advice on ongoing improvement projects.

Lastly, Mikael worked at Teknos as a Paint Manufacturer, gaining knowledge of chemical industry work and industrial processes.

Mikael Siirtola pursued their education with a focus on automation and control engineering. Mikael first attended Aalto University from 2008 to 2011, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Automation and Control Engineering. Later, from 2011 to 2014, they continued their studies at Aalto University and earned a Master's Degree in the same field.

Before their university education, Mikael completed their high school education at Ressun Lukio from 2004 to 2007. Unfortunately, the field of study for their high school degree is not provided.

In addition to their formal education, Mikael has also obtained several certifications. In 2016, they became a Certified ScrumMaster through the Scrum Alliance. In 2018, they obtained the PSPO I certification from Scrum.org. More recently, in 2022, they achieved the certification of Certified SAFe® 5 Release Train Engineer from Scaled Agile, Inc.
