Shyam Modi has a diverse range of work experience. Shyam started their career as a Technical Research Assistant at Princeton University in 2009. Shyam then interned at Moody's Investors Service as an Internal Audit Intern in 2010, followed by an internship as a Credit Risk Intern at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ in 2011. In the same year, Shyam founded SM Tutoring LLC, where they served as the Founder until 2013.

In 2012, Shyam worked as a Launch Intern at Uber Technologies. The following year, they were an Associate Consultant Intern in the Private Equity Group at Bain & Company. In 2013, they also had a brief stint as a Business Development Intern at MiCarga.

Shyam also coordinated large product initiatives, including the redesign of the web application dashboard, implementation of a role-based access system, and IM integration with Slack.

Following their time at Dataminr, Shyam worked as an MBA Associate at FJ Labs from 2018 to 2019. Shyam is currently serving as a Product Manager at Nextdoor starting from September 2019.

Shyam Modi attended Princeton High School from 2006 to 2010. Shyam then pursued their Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) at Princeton University, specializing in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, from 2010 to 2014. In 2012, they briefly attended the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, although details regarding their degree and field of study are unavailable. Shyam later enrolled at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from 2017 to 2019.
