Zack Shapiro

Zack Shapiro has a diverse and extensive work experience in the technology industry. Zack started their career at Adobe Systems as a Member Technical Staff in 1998. In 1999, they joined XUMA as an Engineering Manager, working until 2001.

From 2001 to 2004, Zack worked at Moody's KMV, initially as a Sr. Engineer, where they were responsible for implementing a common build and release infrastructure for web applications and databases. Zack also designed and implemented a health and availability dashboard. Later, they became an Engineering Manager, leading a team responsible for web applications and services, databases, and high-availability solutions. Zack then became the Director of Client Operations, overseeing global web application and database operations and architecture, along with high-availability and disaster recovery implementation.

In 2006, Zack joined Hi5 Networks as the Director of Engineering, Analytics. Zack led the engineering team through a complete re-write of the infrastructure from Java to CSharp/.NET.

In 2011, Zack joined Upsight, Inc. as the Director of Engineering, where they were responsible for architecture and engineering. From 2014 to 2015, they served as an Architect, and then as the Director of Engineering until February 2014.

Currently, Zack works at Nextdoor, where they began in 2015 as the Lead Data Architect. In January 2019, they transitioned to the role of Lead - Data Platform and continues to contribute to the company's data initiatives.

Zack Shapiro attended Oberlin College from 1993 to 1997, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
