Alex Sundstrom

Alex Sundstrom is an experienced tax professional currently serving as Executive Director of Tax Planning & Property Tax at NextEra Energy, Inc. since June 2018, with expanded responsibilities in global property tax matters. Prior to this role, Alex led tax planning and M&A tax support for NextEra and was Senior Managing Tax Counsel, focusing on business tax support. Earlier experience includes a Managing Director position at BNY Mellon, where global transfer pricing and tax planning were overseen, and a Managing Director role at State Street, managing tax planning and compliance for the EMEA region. Alex also held the role of Tax Associate at Shearman & Sterling. Academically, Alex holds a JD, cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and a BA, magna cum laude, from Duke University, with studies in English, Philosophy, and German, along with a background from the Webb School of Knoxville.
