Mitch Pulver

Entrepreneur-in-Residence at NextGen Growth Partners

Mitch grew up in the northwoods of Wisconsin. An avid hockey player, he left the comforts of home in high school to live with host families and play competitive hockey at a national level. An overwhelming sense of duty to serve the nation shifted his aspirations of becoming a collegiate athlete to serving their country in the military. He attended the United States Naval Academy and was commissioned as a naval officer in May of 2012.

Mitch served five years aboard USS DECATUR, a guided missile destroyer based out of San Diego, California. His first assignment was as the Repair Division Officer, in charge of leading a team of 10 sailors tasked with maintaining critical fire protection equipment and fighting fires. He completed an eight-month deployment to the Persian Gulf, ensuring coalition stability from ballistic missile threats. In 2014, Mitch shifted roles to the ship’s Navigator, where he led a department of 30 personnel. He completed a seven-month deployment to the South China Sea, with a focus on countering Chinese aggression in the region. Mitch’s last tour was at the Naval Academy, where he taught seamanship and navigation to freshman midshipmen.

Mitch is a believer in servant leadership, a trait that his role model, the late Senator John McCain, embodied in the truest sense. Mitch partnered with NextGen Growth Partners to lead one great business and team with integrity, transparency, and humility.

Mitch received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
