Michelle Knighton

Michelle Knighton is an experienced professional in health information management and regulatory affairs, currently serving as Regulatory Programs Director at NextGen Healthcare since September 2020. With a strong history of teaching as Online Adjunct Faculty at various universities since 2007, Michelle has held key positions in several organizations, including Corporate Regulatory Affairs Director at Medsphere Systems Corporation and VP of Federal Policy & Governmental Affairs at Wellsoft. Notable achievements include chairing testing and certification efforts for EHR products, conducting usability studies that resulted in significant cost savings, and managing compliance programs with a perfect client compliance rate. An MBA graduate from Stephens College and a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Administration from Indiana University Bloomington, Michelle has also served as a Commissioner at CCHIIM and Certification Manager for the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology.
