Rajesh Bhandary

Process Development Engineer at NexWafe

Rajesh Bhandary, PhD has extensive experience in materials science and research, with a strong focus on energy storage devices. Rajesh currently works as a Process Development Engineer at NexWafe, a position they have held since 2023. Prior to this, Rajesh worked as a Materials Scientist at The Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg from May 2021 to December 2022, where they conducted research on polyelectrolyte based solid electrolytes for energy storage devices. Rajesh also investigated ion transport and microstructure in polymer and composite electrolytes, as well as the mechanisms of ions at electrode-electrolyte interphase.

Before that, Rajesh served as a Material Scientist at Paris-Sud University (Paris XI) from December 2017 to May 2019, focusing on the synthesis and characterization of inorganic nanotubes and hydrophobic surfaces. Rajesh also conducted research on the interaction of water with hydrophobic nano-confinement, making significant contributions to the understanding of this field.

From April 2016 to September 2017, Rajesh worked as a Material Chemist at the University of Montpellier, where they optimized the chemical grafting of organic molecules in nanostructured surfaces. Rajesh also achieved successful surface modification and phase transfer of nanoparticles and tuned the colloidal properties of surface-modified nanoparticles with ionic liquids.

Rajesh's research career began at the University of Münster in October 2011, where they worked as an Electrochemistry PhD Researcher until July 2015. During this time, they focused on the synthesis and characterization of polymeric ionic-liquid based gel polymer electrolytes for Li-ion batteries. Their work involved uncovering novel transport properties of ions and optimizing the ionic dynamics in the electrolytes for improved electrochemical properties.

Prior to their PhD research, Rajesh served as a Research Associate in Polymer Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras from July 2010 to June 2011. Here, they conducted detailed studies on the synthesis of poly-methyl methacrylate (PMMA) via different routes and optimized synthetic methodologies for homo and block copolymers. Rajesh also played a significant role in characterizing the structure-property relations using various techniques, resulting in a publication.

Overall, Rajesh Bhandary, PhD has a diverse background in materials science and has made significant contributions to the field through their research and development work.

Rajesh Bhandary, PhD, obtained their Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Calcutta in 2008. Rajesh then pursued a Master's degree in Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, graduating with First Class honors in 2010. Following this, Rajesh completed a Post-M.Sc. associateship in Polymer Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, in 2011. Rajesh further advanced their education by earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physical Chemistry from the University of Münster in 2015.
