Ji Zhou

Head Of Data Sciences; Programme Leader Of Crop Phenomics at NIAB

Ji Zhou has a diverse work experience in the field of biology and computer science. Ji has served as a Committee Member for the Royal Society of Biology since 2023. Prior to that, they worked at NIAB as the Head of Data Sciences and Programme Leader of Crop Phenomics starting in 2020. From 2017, Ji Zhou held the position of Professor of Crop Phenomics at Nanjing Agricultural University while also serving as a Senior Lecturer of Computer Vision and Machine Learning at the University of East Anglia. Ji was also involved in research projects and leadership roles at Earlham Institute and The Genome Analysis Centre. Ji Zhou began their career as a Post-doctoral scientist in bioinformatics at The Sainsbury Laboratory in 2011 and has also contributed to the academic field as an Associate Tutor, Subject Teacher, and Joint Module Leader at the University of East Anglia. Prior to their academic career, Ji Zhou worked as a Project Consultant and Systems Analyst at Aviva plc.

Ji Zhou completed their education with a PhD in Computer Science from the University of East Anglia, which they obtained from 2006 to 2011. Prior to that, they earned an MSc in Information Systems from the same institution from 2003 to 2005. Ji holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Computer Controlling from Shanghai University of Engineering Science, where they studied from 1996 to 2000. Before entering university, Ji Zhou completed their high school education at Shanghai Jianqin Experimental School and obtained their high school diploma in 1995. Ji has also obtained certifications in UK University Teaching Skills, SAS, BCS, and Aviva-CR from UEA, SAS, BCS, and Aviva respectively.
