Gudbrand Lien has extensive experience in the field of research and academia. Gudbrand currently holds the position of Professor at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences, which they have held since January 2008. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Researcher at NIBIO Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research starting from January 1997.

In addition to their current role, Lien has also had various visiting scholar positions at prestigious institutions such as Griffith University, The University of Queensland, and Texas A&M University. Gudbrand'stenure as a visiting scholar at these institutions occurred between 2004 and 2010, with durations ranging from two to three months.

Moreover, Lien also worked as a Guest Researcher at Wageningen University & Research for a period of five months in 2003. Another significant role in their career was when they served as a Visiting PhD Student at the University of New England (AU) from August 1999 to June 2000. Lastly, they gained valuable experience as a Senior Executive Officer at Landbruks- og matdepartementet from May 1993 to July 1995.

Gudbrand Lien's education history starts in 1989 when they enrolled in the School of Economics and Business at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. Gudbrand completed their degree, receiving a Cand. Agric qualification, in 1993. Building on this foundation, they then attended the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) from 1995 to 1997, where they pursued a degree in Business Economics and obtained a Cand.Merc. certification. Gudbrand continued their education at NHH from 1997 to 2001, ultimately achieving a Doctor of Oecon. degree in Business Economics.
