Kyle Piccolo has held various roles in the field of research and development since 2008. Kyle began their career as an Umpire for the Ayr Minor Softball Association in 2008. Kyle then worked as a Golf Course Maintenance Worker for Galt Country Club in 2009 and Paris Grand Golf & Country Club in 2015. In 2015, they joined the University of Waterloo as a Research Biochemist and Teaching Assistant, where they supervised the training and mentoring of over 20 students and successfully adapted and implemented COVID protocols. In 2021, they joined Wilfrid Laurier University as a Laboratory Technician, where they were responsible for preparing standards, managing chemical and physical inventories, and maintaining laboratory instruments and facilities. Most recently, in 2022, they joined Nicoya as a Sr. Scientist and Application Development Scientist.
Kyle Piccolo attended Monsignor Doyle Catholic Secondary School from 2009 to 2012, where they completed their high school education. Kyle then went on to the University of Waterloo, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry with a Specialization in Biotechnology from 2012 to 2016. Kyle continued their education at the University of Waterloo, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry in 2021.
