Michael Alicea

CHRO, Nielsen Global Connect at Nielsen

Michael Alicea is the HR Lead of Nielsen Connect. He joined Nielsen in 1995 and is responsible for Nielsen’s HR strategy, which drives our people-oriented, innovative culture and the Nielsen Employee Experience.

Michael possesses a strong background in a broad range of human resource disciplines including employee relations, performance management, training, and corporate initiative fulfillment. He has held a variety of leadership roles within the company in HR, communications and operations.

Prior to his current role, Michael was Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Global Product Leadership and Nielsen Business Media, including our former trade shows and publishing assets such as ShowWest, The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Backstage and AdWeek among many others. Before that, he served as Vice President of Operations at PERQ/HCI. In 2001, Michael advanced to Vice President of ACNielsenHCI where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company. During his tenure there, he created the first online surveying tool for campaign tracking within the pharmaceutical industry.

Before joining Nielsen, Michael held several HR positions in compensation, employee relations and labor within a large non-profit organization in New York City.

Michael has a BBA in Human Resources and Organizational Management and has completed graduate coursework in Business Policy at Baruch College. In 2010 he also completed Nielsen’s Global Leadership Program in Bangalore, India.

Michael is presently the Chairman of Nielsen’s External Advisory Board and serves on the Board of Directors for Emerald Co, publicly traded company on the NYSE and has served on the Emma Bowen Foundation board, which is dedicated to preparing minority youth for careers in the Media Industry.

In January 2015 Michael received the Arthur C. Nielsen Chairman’s Award for outstanding achievement. He was also honored in 2014 -2018 by the Imagen Foundation as one of “The Most Influential Hispanics in Media” and named “Best of the Boardroom” by Hispanic Executive in 2019.
