Reza Ghorbani

Reza is a power systems expert with 70+ publications and 1750+ citations to date. He has published leading papers on energy systems optimization, demand response, forecasting methodologies, and bidding strategies, including aggregation of distributed energy resources into wholesale markets.

He has led software teams that developed platforms for smart grids, smart cities and connected healthcare.

He joined Nikola Power in early 2020 to launch Nikola Power’s new advanced energy management software (EMS).

In his spare time he enjoys windsurfing, surfing and Hawaii outdoor activities with his two kids and wife.

He is also an associate professor in the college of engineering at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and director of Renewable Energy Design Laboratory.
