Oriol Iborra Egea

Oriol Iborra Egea has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Oriol is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at NIMBLE Diagnostics, a position they have held since March 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) starting from December 2019.

In addition, Oriol has served as an Editor for Frontiers in cardiovascular medicine since November 2021. Oriol has also been actively involved in the Societat Catalana de Biologia (SCB), where they served as a Member of the Board of Directors, responsible for organizing and promoting scientific activities, from September 2013. Oriol also held the role of Chief Executive of the students' section at SCB from September 2013 until September 2019.

Before these roles, Oriol worked as a PhD researcher at the Fundació Institut d’Investigació en Ciències de la Salut Germans Trias i Pujol from September 2015 to December 2019, focusing on developing biomarkers for heart failure and cardiac tissue engineering.

Furthermore, Oriol gained experience as a Laboratory Assistant at AGBAR from May 2011 to February 2016. Oriol also undertook the role of an MSc Student in Genetics and Genomics at the Institut de recerca de l'hospital de la santa creu i sant Pua from October 2014 to September 2015, where they focused on studying the genetic basis of neurodegenerative diseases.

Earlier in their career, Oriol worked as a Junior Researcher at the University of Barcelona from September 2013 to October 2014, where they studied the regeneration process in freshwater planarians. Oriol also worked as a Geneticist Researcher at IDIBELL in July 2014.

Oriol's work experience also includes being a Laboratory Teaching Assistant of animal physiology at the University of Barcelona from October 2010 to February 2011.

Throughout their career, Oriol has contributed to various scientific research areas, including cardiovascular medicine, genetics, and molecular biology.

Oriol Iborra Egea's education history is as follows:

From 2015 to 2019, Oriol pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in the field of cardiology at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

In 2014, Oriol completed a Master of Science (MSc) program in Genetics and Genomics at Universitat de Barcelona.

From 2009 to 2014, Oriol obtained a Graduate degree in Biology with a specialization in Molecular Biology from Universitat de Barcelona.

Between 1993 and 2009, Oriol attended Escola Vedruna Gràcia for high school, focusing on science.

In addition to their formal education, Oriol has obtained several certifications. In July 2008, they received the "Atenció sanitària immediata nivell II" certification from Creu Roja a Catalunya. In April 2015, they obtained the "Personal investigador usuari d'animals d'experimentació" certification from CCiT-UB. Lastly, in March 2019, they completed the "Good Clinical Practices (GCP)" certification from NIDA Clinical Trials Network.
