Radu Gherghescu

Radu Gherghescu is a senior researcher with extensive experience in nuclear physics, currently holding a position at the Horia Hulubei National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering since February 1985. Gherghescu specializes in various areas of nuclear physics, including nuclear structure, fusion, fission, and superheavy elements. Previous research roles included a tenure at FIAS in Frankfurt am Main from February 1997 to March 2012, focusing on the synthesis of superheavy elements. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Physics from the Institute for Atomic Physics (1989-1993) and two Bachelor of Science degrees in Nuclear Physics from the Faculty of Physics at the University of Bucharest (1978-1983 and 1979-1982). Early education was completed at Nicolae Balcescu (Sf. Sava) Highschool (1974-1978).
