Kanchana Gopinath

Dr Kanchana is a Senior Technical Program Manager handling special projects, such as River blindness. Kanchana previously led the Technology Group at Sony India Software Centre, where she spearheaded critical software development and system integration for Sony products – mobiles, TVs and several prototypes, using IoT and image sensors. Also, she was the ML and Innovation Champion at Sony India, where she led a dedicated team for emerging tech – to identify and address customer use-cases. Prior to Sony, she worked as a Technical Manager at Sasken Communication and Wipro Technologies. Before joining the private sector, she was a Scientist in Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), where she worked on the design and integration of human-machine interface software for airborne early warning systems. Kanchana is an accomplished engineer and researcher – she completed her PhD from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and she has authored several IEEE papers.
