Douglas Riemer

Chief Scientist at Niron Magnetics

Douglas Riemer began their work experience in 2001 as a Corrosion Scientist at OLI Systems, Inc. During this time, they focused on software development and component integration for process and electrolytic simulation tools. Douglas utilized C/C++, Fortran, OpenGL, and DirectX to build GUI and numerical modeling components, as well as graphical output for cross-platform compatibility.

In 2005, Riemer joined Hutchinson Technology, Inc. as a Technical Fellow. In this role, they served as the technical and team lead for various areas, including the design of experiments, process design and scale-up, device design, and design for manufacturing/manufacturability. Notably, Riemer designed and specified innovative manufacturing equipment to enable new capabilities in miniaturized electromechanical devices. This involved implementing high vacuum unit operations and wet chemical additive and subtractive techniques, with a focus on cell design and current distribution optimization. Riemer remained with Hutchinson Technology, Inc. until 2023.

Starting in 2023, Riemer transitioned to Niron Magnetics, Inc. as the Chief Scientist.

Douglas Riemer obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida in the years 1991 to 1994. Douglas later pursued further education and completed their Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, also at the University of Florida, between 1998 and 2000.
