Waqas Riaz

Waqas Riaz has a diverse background in the technology industry, with experience in various roles and responsibilities. Waqas is currently working at Nisum as a DevOps Tech Lead, where they design Cloud Architectures and mentors DevOps engineers. Previously, they worked as a Principal DevOps Engineer at the same company, creating CI/CD for observability projects and designing standard architectures for multiple stages. Waqas also co-founded a startup called Swift Logix, where they provided health-based IT services and products. Prior to that, they worked at xFlow Research Inc. as a Project Manager and Principal Engineer, managing projects for a major Telecom company and designing Real-Time Traffic Filtering solutions. Waqas also held roles as a Senior Engineer and Member Technical Staff at xFlow Research Inc., where they led projects involving SDN use cases and OpenStack deployments. Additionally, Waqas served as a Software Engineer at Dell, assisting the Dell Research Team in building a Fast Datapath cloud solution for NFV use cases. Waqas started their career as a Teaching Assistant at NUST School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, where they were responsible for conducting labs, quizzes, and assignments for the class.

Waqas Riaz completed their Bachelor of Information and Communication System Engineering at NUST SEECS from 2009 to 2014. Waqas'sfield of study was Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications. Additionally, they obtained the OpenStack Administrator Certification from Mirantis in November 2014. More recently, they achieved the Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification from The Linux Foundation in December 2021, and the Google Cloud Platform Associate Cloud Engineer certification from Google Cloud - Minnesota in February 2022.
