Staff Scientist (assay Development Lead) at Nitrase Therapeutics

Prasanna Kandel has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research and drug discovery. They started their career as a Summer Intern in various laboratories, including the Baylor College of Medicine and Washington University in St. Louis, where they contributed to different research projects.

Later, Prasanna worked as a Learning Assistant and Tutor at Boise State University, gaining valuable teaching experience. They also served as a Chemistry Laboratory Instructor and Program Assistant for a Living Learning Community at the university.

Prasanna then pursued a career in academia, joining the Integrative Molecular and Biomedical Sciences Program as a Graduate Student at the Baylor College of Medicine. During this time, they also worked as a Postdoctoral Associate in Pharmacology and Chemical Biology.

Their most recent position was as a Drug Discovery Specialist at the Small Molecule Discovery Center (SMDC) at the University of California, San Francisco. In this role, Prasanna focused on developing biophysical, biochemical, and cell-based assays for small molecule screening and drug discovery projects.

Currently, Prasanna is a Scientist at Nitrase Therapeutics, where they continue to contribute their expertise in scientific research and drug discovery.

Prasanna Kandel completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Chemistry from Boise State University, which they attended from 2009 to 2014. Prasanna then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in the Integrative Molecular and Biomedical Sciences Program at Baylor College of Medicine from 2014 to 2021.

In addition to their formal education, Prasanna has obtained several certifications. In April 2021, they completed the Certificate of Completion- ACS Reviewer Lab Course from the American Chemical Society and the Certified Peer Reviewer Course from Elsevier. In September 2020, they obtained certifications in "Starting a Memorable Conversation," "The Secret: What Great Leaders Know and Do (getAbstract Summary)," and "Transformational Leadership" from LinkedIn. In July 2020, they obtained certifications in "Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World (Blinkist Summary)," "Leadership Mindsets," "Mindfulness for Beginners," "Succeeding in a New Role By Managing Up," and "The Art of Connection: 7 Relationship-Building Skills Every Leader Needs Now (getAbstract Summary)" from LinkedIn.
