Mike Williams is a Chief Scientist at NIWA, where Mike oversees research and commercial projects related to oceans. Mike has a background in physical oceanography and has been involved in developing tsunami warning systems and climate change research programmes. Mike also served as a Director at the Deep South National Science Challenge and was a member of the Science Steering Committee at the Southern Ocean Observing System. In addition to their leadership roles, Mike has a PhD in Physical Oceanography from the University of Tasmania and has published scientific papers on climate change and ocean processes.
