Neelesh Rampal

Neelesh Rampal is a Data Scientist with extensive experience in satellite remote sensing and artificial intelligence applications for health diagnostics. Currently employed at NIWA since March 2020, Neelesh has previously held positions as a Data Scientist Intern at Halter and a Data Scientist at HeartLab, where contributions included developing high-resolution pasture products and automating echocardiogram analyses. Academic experience includes a role as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Auckland, where Neelesh managed laboratory workshops and taught various mathematics courses. With a strong educational background, including a Doctor of Philosophy in Climate Science from UNSW and multiple degrees in Physics and Geophysics from The University of Auckland, Neelesh has also worked as a Research Assistant, focusing on trends in satellite data and climate impacts.
