Joanna Tavernier (nee Middleton) has a diverse and extensive work experience in human resources. Joanna started their career as an HR Advisor at Bechtel Corporation in 1996, where they managed employment conditions for overseas assignments. Joanna then took on the role of Compensation and Benefits Advisor, overseeing the bonus program and annual salary budget for 4,000 employees.
Joanna then joined Bechtel Corporation's Rail Projects division as an HR Manager, responsible for five rail projects and dealing with employee relations, development, staffing, and salary issues. Joanna also implemented a culturally sensitive drugs and alcohol policy across the business unit.
In 2000, Joanna became an Overseas HR Manager at Bechtel Corporation, managing the employees of six companies in an Alliance and setting up the HR department. Joanna also served as an HR Manager for the Civil GBU, providing policy advice and guidance on terms and conditions.
Joanna further expanded their HR career at Abu Dhabi Airports as a Senior HR Business Partner, working with business leaders and developing policies and procedures for a diverse workforce. Joanna then worked as a Senior Project HR Manager, implementing strategic HR programs and integrating 6,000 employees onto a core Oracle ERP platform.
Joanna continued their HR journey at First Gulf Bank as a Senior HR Manager, delivering the HR agenda across HR and the bank to increase market share and empower employees.
Most recently, Joanna joined NKT Photonics as a Human Resources Director, where they are responsible for growing the HR function and developing a high-performance culture as the company expands into aerospace, defense, and quantum computing.
Throughout their career, Joanna has demonstrated strong leadership, expertise in HR management, and a track record of implementing effective HR strategies and programs.
Joanna Tavernier (nee Middleton) completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Psychology from the University of Central Lancashire between 1991 and 1994. In 1997-1998, they pursued further studies at the University of West London, earning a CIPD degree in Human Resources Development. It is unclear if they completed a second Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Psychology from the University of Central Lancashire at a later date.
