Rita Mendes

Rita Mendes is a seasoned professional in biotech venture development with extensive experience in scientific and commercial assessments of early-stage biotech projects at NLC - Health Ventures since April 2022. As a co-founder of Oh My Science!, Rita has successfully built a communication platform for science and business, gaining significant social media traction. An accomplished researcher, Rita completed a PhD in Bioengineering Systems through the MIT Portugal Program, where notable achievements included publishing 13 peer-reviewed articles and managing a research collaboration with multiple institutions. Additional roles have included a researcher position at iBET, a lab rotation at INESC-MN, and several academic appointments at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, complemented by a strong educational background in molecular genetics, biomedicine, and music.
