Kevin Fortier

Director of Package Engineering at nLIGHT

Kevin Fortier has extensive work experience in the engineering field. Kevin started their career at Sandia National Laboratories in 2007 as a Senior Member of Technical Staff and worked there until 2011. During this time, they gained expertise in technical research and development. Kevin then joined Coherent as a Staff Optical Engineer, where they were responsible for designing and building optical systems for biomedical applications. Kevin utilized optical design software and developed a laser welding system during their tenure at Coherent. In 2012, Kevin returned to Sandia National Laboratories as a Principal Optical Engineer, where they continued their work in optical engineering until 2016. Currently, they are employed at nLIGHT as a Director of Package Engineering, leading the development and engineering of packaging solutions.

Kevin Fortier completed their education in a chronological order. Kevin began their educational journey at Reed College in 1997, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics in 2001. After that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Physics at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2001 to 2003. Finally, they continued their studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology and earned a Ph.D. in Physics, completing it from 2003 to 2007.
