Kayla Nease has a diverse range of work experience in the field of animal care and research. Kayla began their career in 2016 as a Special Education Soccer Coach for US Youth TOP Soccer. In 2017, they became a Sales Associate and Scuba Guide at Beach Cities Scuba Aquatic Center.
Kayla then joined Delta Gamma sorority, where they held various leadership positions from 2017 to 2021, including Honor Board Member, VP Communications, and Director of Chapter Archives.
In 2018, Kayla worked as an Animal Care Specialist at the University of Oregon until 2021. During this time, they also served as a Research Intern at DMAD - Marine Mammals Research Association from 2020 to 2021 and as a Laboratory Assistant at the University of Oregon- Sutherland Lab from 2020 to 2021.
Kayla expanded their research experience at the National Marine Mammal Foundation in 2021, where they held multiple roles, including an Intern, Animal Care Assistant I, and Research Assistant. Their responsibilities involved assisting the VetLab team, conducting research projects with the FISHEX group, and supporting the records department.
In 2022, Kayla joined SeaWorld as an Associate Zoological Specialist at the Wild Arctic habitat. Kayla later transitioned to the role of Zoological Specialist-Killer whale in 2023.

Kayla Nease began their education in 2017 at the University of Oregon, where they pursued a major in Marine Biology and a minor in Nonprofit Administration. Kayla completed their studies at the university in 2021. In addition to their academic achievements, Kayla also obtained certifications during their education. In August 2019, they obtained a Boaters License from the BoatUS Foundation. Furthermore, in December 2018, they acquired a Rescue Scuba Diver certification from PADI.
