Barry Simonsen CISSP-ISSAP/ISSEP, CEH, CCSP, MCITP

Barry Simonsen CISSP-ISSAP/ISSEP, CEH, CCSP, MCITP has extensive experience in the field of cybersecurity. Barry began their career in 1996 as an Infantry Squad Leader for the United States Army, where they developed knowledge about working as a team, time management, overcoming adversity, embracing diversity and conflict resolution. In 2001, they became a US Army Recruiter for the Minneapolis Army Recruiting Battalion, Sioux Falls Station, where they were responsible for sourcing and attracting candidates, screening them for qualification, interests and aptitude to determine employment opportunities, and conducting interviews. From 1997 to 2008, they held various positions at different pay grades as a Mechanized Infantryman/ Bradley Fighting Vehicle Gunner/Driver for Bravo Company 1-6 Infantry. In 2008, they became the Automation Data Processing Security Team Chief for 2nd Brigade 1st Infantry Division S6, where they implemented, tracked and enforced Information Assurance procedures and policies, engineered, constructed and deployed enterprise level assets for a Brigade Combat Team (BCT) with 3000+ users, and established, maintained and upgraded physical and virtual systems. From 2012 to 2016, they were a Cybersecurity Analyst for United States Southern Command, where they were the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of the Theater Computer Network Defense (CND) Branch and supervised a seven person Cyber Security team. Barry then worked as a Cybersecurity Engineer for PeopleTec from 2016 to 2017, where they built storyboard incident reporting mechanisms, conducted operational impact assessments, and integrated cyber planning into day-to-day logistics operations. From 2017 to 2019, they were a Cyber Security Engineer and Cyber Supply Chain Risk Management Team Lead for Noetic Strategies, Inc., where they were a Cybersecurity and risk management subject matter expert and was responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and implementing controls for securing and monitoring Information and Communication Technologies throughout the supply chain. Barry then worked as a Red Team Engineer for Millennium Corporation from 2019 to 2021. Currently, they are a Red Team Engineer/Operator for Dominion Cyber.

Barry Simonsen holds a Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, General from the University of Maryland Global Campus, obtained in 2017. Barry is also certified as an Information Systems Security Architecture Professional (CISSP-ISSAP) by (ISC)2, obtained in 2016; a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) by (ISC)2, obtained in 2016; a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) Server Administrator on Windows Server 2008 by Microsoft, obtained in 2011; a CompTIA Security+ by CompTIA, obtained in 2010; a CISSP-ISSEP by (ISC)2, obtained in 2018; a Certified Ethical Hacker by EC Council, obtained in 2018; and a CCSP by ISC2, obtained in 2017.
