Michael Barrett

Michael Barrett is the former Chief Information Security Officer for PayPal, Inc., and was responsible for ensuring the security of PayPal’s 120+ million users worldwide. Before joining PayPal, Mr. Barrett was Vice President of Security and Utility Strategy at American Express. He was previously president of the Liberty Alliance, an open-standards consortium focused on identity management standards and guidelines. Barrett was twice named one of the 50 most powerful people in networking by Network World magazine, has been listed as one of ITSecurity.com’s top influencers in the security industry, and was recognized as the Information Security Executive of the year in 2010. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM). Mr. Barrett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Brighton University in the UK.
