Giana Magnoli has been covering Santa Barbara County news since 2009, when she joined Noozhawk as a reporter. She was named news editor in 2014 and became managing editor in 2015.
In 2011 and 2013 she was selected as a California Endowment Health Journalism Fellow at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism, and helped produce in-depth health reporting projects for Noozhawk. She is a member of the Solutions Journalism Network and was chosen for the 2020-21 cohort of the Poynter-Koch Media and Journalism Fellowship.
She graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a journalism degree and spent three years working at the Mustang Daily student newspaper and website. She also worked as a freelancer writer at the Pacific Coast Business Times.
