Mikko Tuominen

Mikko Tuominen serves as the R&D Director at Nordtreat since January 2022, overseeing the development of fire-retardant coatings and additives while ensuring effective collaboration within the R&D team and across various stakeholders. Prior experience includes a Senior Researcher position at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, focusing on wood coatings, and roles as Project Manager and Researcher at RISE, where the development of thin functional coatings was a key responsibility. Additional experience spans postdoctoral research at SP Technical Research Institute and Tampere University of Technology, emphasizing the creation of water and oil repellent coatings, biopolymer packaging materials, and various coating techniques. Mikko Tuominen holds a D.Sc. in Packaging Science, a Licentiate degree in the same field, and a Master's degree in Paper Science and Engineering, all from Tampere University of Technology.
