Gemetchu Hika

Gemetchu Hika has extensive work experience in the field of compliance and legal counsel. Gemetchu currently holds the role of VP Chief Compliance Officer at Norsk Hydro, where they oversee the company's global compliance function. Prior to this, they worked at Equinor, where they held several positions including Senior Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer, Company Secretary, and Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer. In these roles, Gemetchu was responsible for developing and improving compliance programs, providing legal advice, and managing various legal and administrative tasks. Gemetchu also has experience as an attorney at law, specializing in white-collar crime defense, and has worked as a legal advisor for Sivilombudet and as a tutor/lecturer at Universitetet i Oslo. Gemetchu holds a master's degree in criminal law and human rights law and has published their research in a renowned law journal.

Gemetchu Hika attended the University of Oslo from 2001 to 2007 where they obtained a degree in Law (Cand. jur.). In 2006, they briefly attended the University of Southampton to study International Human Rights Law, Contract Law, and Criminal Law.
