Merete Grung is a highly experienced senior research scientist at NIVA since January 2001, with a strong background in bio-organic chemistry. Grung served as a Professor II at the University of Oslo from March 2014 to December 2021 and contributed as an expert member of the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food Safety from May 2010 to August 2018. Prior to these roles, Grung worked as a senior research scientist at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health between September 1993 and December 2000, focusing on forensic toxicology. Grung holds a Ph.D. in bio-organic chemistry and an M.Sc. in organic chemistry, both from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, with degrees completed in 1993 and 1987, respectively.
