Paulo Fernandes is a researcher at Norsk institutt for vannforskning (NIVA) since September 2020, previously holding a research position at Skretting where the focus was on developing feeding and rearing solutions for salmonid culture in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems. Paulo's expertise includes work as a postdoc at the Technical University of Denmark - DTU Aqua on cost-effective nutrient removal solutions in saltwater RAS and a PhD project centered on micro-particle interactions in freshwater RAS. Earlier experience includes roles in fish husbandry and aquaculture internships, complemented by a strong educational background with a PhD in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems from DTU, an MSc in Aquaculture and Fisheries from Wageningen University & Research, and a BSc in Marine Biology from Universidade do Algarve.
