Peter Gwaltney has served as President & Chief Executive Officer of the North Carolina Bankers Association since January 2015. He is a former banker and previously served as CEO of the Louisiana Bankers Association. During his career, Peter has served on numerous committees with the American Bankers Association and currently serves on the ABA Board of Directors and is Chairman of the ABA Alliance of State Bankers Associations. He is a Past Chairman of the Louisiana Governor’s Prayer Breakfast, a Past Chairman of the Graduate School of Banking at LSU and currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees at Mary Baldwin University in Staunton, Virginia and the Dean’s Advisory Council at the School of Business at Louisiana State University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies with an emphasis in Economics and Finance from Louisiana State University.

Proudly serving North Carolina’s banking industry since 1897, the NCBA is the professional trade organization providing advocacy, leadership and support for its dynamic membership base. Through its government relations activities, the Association communicates with the North Carolina General Assembly, the U.S. Congress and banking regulators on behalf of its member banks, savings institutions and trust companies. The NCBA also provides media relations support, educational and training programs, and regulatory and compliance assistance.
