Robert T. Broughton

Robert T. Broughton is a seasoned legal professional currently serving as Special Deputy Attorney General and Assistant Attorney General at the North Carolina Department of Justice since January 2016, where responsibilities include litigating for UNC Hospitals and advising medical staff on commitment processes. Broughton also contributes as a writer and vice editor for The Advocate at the North Carolina Bar Association, focusing on legal articles for young lawyers. Additionally, since October 2011, Broughton has provided pro bono legal advice to military spouses through the Military Spouse Business Association. Previous roles include Assistant District Attorney in Judicial District 3A, student attorney at Wake Forest University's Community Law and Business Clinic, and various internships that provided extensive experience in criminal defense, transactional real estate, and business law.
