Kimberly Gold has a strong background in the community college system, with experience dating back to 1999. Most recently, they served as the Chief of Staff for the North Carolina Community College System starting in November 2021. Prior to that, they held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer from July 2019 to November 2021. Before joining the North Carolina Community College System, they were the President of Robeson Community College from January 2017 to June 2019. Kimberly Gold has a diverse education history. Kimberly obtained their Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management, General from UNC Chapel Hill in 1987. From 1989 to 1995, they pursued a Master's degree in Business Administration from Western Carolina University. Later, in 2000-2001, they attended East Carolina University to acquire a Graduate Certificate in Economics. Most recently, from 2004 to 2007, they completed their Doctor of Education in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from Appalachian State University.
