Stephen Reeves has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Stephen started their career in the military, serving in the United States Marine Corps as an Air Support Operations Operator from 1991 to 1995. Following their military service, they joined the 514th Military Police Company, NCARNG as a Military Police officer from 1995 to 2000. Stephen then transitioned into the corporate sector, working as a Windows Administrator at Central Carolina Bank from 2002 to 2004, and later at the North Carolina Electric Membership Cooperative from 2004 to 2007. In 2011, they joined the North Carolina Community College System, where they held various IT leadership roles, including Assistant CIO of Operations and Director of IT Security. Currently, they serve as the Associate Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer for the North Carolina Community College System. Additionally, they have also been involved in Every Day Ready, LLC as a Partner and Instructor since 2014, where they contribute their skills and knowledge in areas such as tactical firearms training and disaster response.

Stephen Reeves received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from East Carolina University, where they studied from 1995 to 1998. In 2011, they attended the UNC School of Government for a course in Local Government CIO. In terms of certifications, they obtained a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) accreditation from (ISC)² in September 2016. Stephen also obtained several firearms-related certifications in 2013, including a North Carolina Conceal Carry Handgun Instructor certification from the North Carolina Department of Justice, a Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor certification from the National Rifle Association, and a Basic Pistol Instructor certification also from the National Rifle Association.
