Hazel Edmond

Hazel Edmond serves as the Director of Rural Engagement & Investment at the North Carolina Department of Commerce since December 2013, providing strategic leadership for the Rural Engagement & Investment program with a focus on program development, communication, fiscal accountability, and staff management. In this role, Hazel oversees the $50M Rural Transformation Grant Fund, collaborating with federal and state agencies to create grant application materials and ensure compliance with funding regulations. Previously, Hazel was a Grants Manager for the Rural Building Reuse Program and Water & Sewer Infrastructure Program at the NC Rural Center from February 2001 to December 2013, where responsibilities included evaluating grant applications, ensuring compliance, and providing technical assistance. Hazel holds a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance from Georgia Southern University.
