Alex Williams

Alex Williams currently serves as the Head of the Public Safety Section at the North Carolina Department of Justice, overseeing legal matters for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and Department of Adult Correction. In the role of Special Deputy Attorney General, Alex serves as lead counsel on complex cases, while previous experience includes representing the Department of Public Safety as an Assistant Attorney General. Prior to joining the NC Department of Justice, Alex was a litigator at Nexsen Pruet, LLC, focusing on criminal defense and civil litigation. Other professional experience includes managing a law firm, serving as a research assistant, extern, clerk, and file manager. Alex holds a Juris Doctor from the Appalachian School of Law and Bachelor's degrees in Criminology and Political Science from North Carolina State University.
