Charles West

Charles West is an experienced law enforcement professional currently serving as a Motor Fuels Tax Investigator for the North Carolina Department of Revenue since May 2020. Previously, Charles retired as Chief of Police from the Dunn Police Department after 30.5 years of service and held the position of Major-Deputy Sheriff at Wake County Sheriff's Office prior to that. Charles began a career in law enforcement at the Town of Wendell and also worked in security at Wake Medical Center. Academically, Charles holds a Master's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a concentration in Public Administration from Fort Hays State University, a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice/Police Science from North Carolina Central University, and completed a Certificate in Administrative Officers Management Program from North Carolina State University, along with an Associate degree in Criminal Justice/Police Science from Sampson Community College.
