Michelle Harrell

Director of Education at North Carolina Museum of Art

Michelle Harrell is the Director of Education at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Michelle has dedicated their career to arts education, and has worked hard to increase enrollment in art electives and to provide teacher development for the NCMA’s Monet in Normandy exhibition. Michelle has also served as Staff Development chair for Wake County High School Art Teachers and as Secretary of School Improvement Plan/Leadership Team. In their current position, they are responsible for the museum’s education programs, which include teaching classes, workshops, and family festivals.

Michelle Harrell is an art teacher who has a Master's of Education from East Carolina University, a BFA from East Carolina University, and an Associate of Art from William Peace University. Michelle also has certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in Early Adolescence and Young Adulthood Art (EAYA).

They work with Rachel Woods - Director of Park Operations, Johnny Burleson - Chief Advancement Officer, and Maggie Gregory - Manager of Collections & Head Registrar. Michelle Harrell reports to Valerie Hillings, Director & CEO. A direct report to Michelle Harrell is and Miles Davis Hall - Tour Assistant.
